Petrol Price Hike: Rivers NLC Chairman clashes with analyst over FG's 'betrayal'

A heated debate about the Nigeria Labour Congress accusing the Federal Government of betrayal over the recent petrol price hike broke out between public affairs analyst, Andy Akpotive, and Rivers State NLC Chairman, Alex Agwanwor.

The two men argued on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts over the role of the NLC in agitating for the welfare of Nigerians.

Recall that NLC President Joe Ajaero in a statement accused the Federal Government of betraying the labour movement, demanding an immediate reversal of the fuel price hike nationwide.

But according to Mr Akpotive, NLC has been too focussed on the minimum wage rather than the standard of living of Nigerians.

“The truth of the matter is NLC has been very very selfish,” he said.

Mr Agwanwor responded: “We can never be discouraged because one thing that inspires and encourages us is that we stand for justice.”
