In the wake of the suspension of Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nigerians have expressed a wide range of opinions.
Callers on Nigeria Info's Hard Facts radio program with Kalada Batubo engaged in a lively discussion, sharing their thoughts and posing insightful questions about corruption, the credibility of those initiating the suspension, and the potential consequences for citizens.
During the program, one caller highlighted the pervasive nature of corruption, emphasizing the need for introspection at both individual and societal levels. He called for self-reflection, emphasising that combatting corruption requires collective effort and accountability from all.
"If we are talking about corruption, it’s a general thing. For me, we should search ourselves,” he said.
Another caller directed attention toward the impact on ordinary citizens, questioning the relevance of the EFCC boss's suspension and subsequent leadership changes. They expressed doubts about the potential outcomes and whether these actions would ultimately improve the lives of the Nigerian people.
“The suspension of EFCC chairman, what has it got to do with the citizen? Does it have any impact on the citizen?” he asked.
