The Chairman of Diobu Vigilante group, Amatari Prince Bipilade says community policing is the way out of reoccurring criminal activities in parts of Rivers state.
This comes after robbery activities were reported along the Woji, ALCON, Eleme Akpajo axis, and YKC area of the state.
According to Mr Bipilade, these crimes have continued because of security lapses enabled by Nigeria’s centralised security structure.
Speaking as a guest on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts, he listed some of these lapses to include; lack of personnel and mobility. Mr Bilipade argued that these lapses have weakened the effective operation of the security agencies in those areas.
Suggesting a decentralised approach to security in the country, He said security should be home-based driven, and communities should be put in charge of the safety of their neighborhood to complement the efforts of the police.
