A retired Assistant Director of the Directorate of State Services, Dennis Amachree, has described the insecurity in Abuja as “impunity”.

Mr Amachree stated this on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts during a discussion about the security situation in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

According to him, “non-state actors are challenging the government…by moving into the headquarters of our country,” and the situation should be dealt with before it escalates.

Mr Amachree also noted that security agencies in Nigeria are capable of tackling insecurity in parts of the country, but are unable to optimally perform their assigned tasks because of an absence of political will.

“…national interest is pushed all the way back and then of course these agencies cannot go out and in full capacity do what they are supposed to do,” he said.
