Nigerians have voiced diverse opinions regarding Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s announcement to investigate the administration of his predecessor and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
This announcement has sparked widespread discussion, with various perspectives on the probe's implications and motivations shared on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts.
Morrison, who finds the unfolding events intriguing, supports the investigation, suggesting that Wike’s supporters should not worry if there is nothing to hide, and believes transparency will benefit the state.
“Honestly speaking, I’m enjoying the whole drama that is playing out,” he said.
Peter views the probe as “a test” of Governor Fubara’s leadership. He suggests that carrying out the investigation could set a significant precedent and demonstrate the governor's commitment to accountability.
On the contrary, Ezekiel is sceptical about the probe's effectiveness, citing the unproductive outcomes of previous probes. He believes efforts would be better spent on addressing legal barriers, such as removing perpetual injunctions that hinder judicial processes.
“One good thing I will want the governor to do for us is to remove that perpetual injunction so that EFCC can do their work,” he said.
On his part, Christian calls for making such probes mandatory, noting that systematic investigations could prevent the mismanagement of state resources. He also hints that resistance to the probe might stem from individuals fearing exposure of unfulfilled contracts they benefited from.
