Constitutional lawyer C.A.J. Chinwo says he is deeply concerned about the increasing intimidation of the judiciary in Nigeria, especially the #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary billboards.

Chinwo made this known on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts with Kalada Batubo while reacting to the controversy surrounding the billboards.

"Unlike any other time in history, Nigerians are intimidating the judiciary," he said.

He further expressed his sympathy for the legal profession, which he says he has been a part of for 36 years, though admitting that “very often, lawyers may not do their jobs well.”

Recall that the Secretariat of the Advertising Standard Panel was dissolved due to its endorsement of the billboards accused of attempting to manipulate the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal with the slogan: ‘All Eyes on The Judiciary’.

The Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, has also clarified in an interview, that President Bola Tinubu did not order the removal of the billboards. He said the decision was taken because the adverts violated the vetting guidelines and are against the principle of fair hearing which provides that where an issue is before the court, the said issue is not to be discussed.
