Otodo Gbame Residents Protest Forced Evictions At Third Mainland Bridge

Residents of Otodo Gbame waterfront community were seen protesting on Tuesday, due to the forced eviction from their homes by the Lagos State Government.

They took to the lagoon around the Third Mainland Bridge in boats to protest their eviction from their homes. The protesters are mourning the over 13 lives lost during the evictions and their state of permanent displacement from the homes.

Since the eviction local schools have shot down permanently, “I was in SSS3 when the evictions started,” says Nicholas Richard, an evictee who now resides in Sogunro.

“Maybe I was lucky because I finished my secondary (school) education just before the final eviction. We wrote our papers and shortly afterwards, we were evicted,”
