Former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has explained his decision to join the race to become the PDP’s presidential flag bearer at the 2023 general elections.
Saraki told Sandra Ezekwesili on Hard Facts that he entered the race to salvage Nigeria's dire situation.
According to him, the country is dealing with terrorism in both the Northeast and North-west, militias attacking people's farms in the North-Central, a secession threat in the South East and Oil theft in the South-South.
Added to the hardship, the Former Kwara Governor said it has become difficult for the average Nigerian to cope.
The former senator also clarified that he possesses the experience that makes him the right man for the job given the positions he has held in the past.
In addition, Saraki has explained why he wants the PDP to have a consensus candidate during its primaries.
According to him, such a move will infuse unity among party members and give them a stronger advantage in the 2023 elections.
Recall that the President of the eighth Senate had announced his intention to contest the presidential ticket of the PDP in a post on his official Facebook page on June 25.
He also aspired to lead Nigeria in 2019 but lost the PDP ticket to Atiku Abubakar.
