Medical expert, Dr Joseph Okoeguale, has attributed one per cent of the deaths recorded yearly in Nigeria to Lassa fever.
Okoeguale who is the Deputy Director, Institute of Lassa Fever Research and Control Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) Edo State, said this in an interview on Morning Crossfire.
The doctor noted that in the distant past; the epidemic came as a yearly outbreak that lasted a while, but that has not been the case in the last three years, as it has been on a constant rise.
“Since 2018, it has been present all year round. There is no month that a case of Lassa fever is not reported.”
He further spoke about symptoms of the disease and what we can do to mitigate it.
