Police Brutality: It is Legal to Capture Scenes With Your Phone - Lawyer

If you've ever wondered if it is right, if not safe, to capture a scene of Police Brutality with your phone, Constitutional Lawyer, Liborous Oshoma says it is perfectly within the law to do so.

He made this revelation known on Nigeria Info while fielding questions from Joyce Onyemuwa on Sunny Side.

Oshoma, who also noted that such evidence can be tendered in court, revealed that the Evidence Act has been amended to that effect.

"A Policeman is a public officer," he said, "His actions are public and can be reported publicly."

The Constitutional  Lawyer, however, warned that gathering electronic evidence of harassment by law enforcement officers in 'certain' places could be unsafe.

"Because of the danger involved in it, ensure that you are in an open environment. You have  to be discreet," he warned.

The lawyer further called on the government to ensure there are "consequences for actions of Police Harassment." This he says will act as a deterrent to others.
