An investigative report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), detailed how some women are tricked by so-called medical professionals into thinking they are pregnant.
FIJ's journalist Damilola Ayeni who worked on the investigation, revealed that due to societal pressure and desperation on some women to get pregnant, they become easily tricked into believing they bear a "cryptic pregnancy."
Ayeni who was speaking on Nigeria Info's Hard Facts, revealed that the so-called medical professionals who collude with baby factories, convince these seemingly desperate women into making payment for a special pregnancy (cryptic pregnancy) that is invinsible to regular pregnancy tests.
According to him, "a few weeks after the payment, you start seeing pregnancy symptoms, your belly is bulging, you're tired etc and these women actually believe they are miraculously pregnant."
'Sadly, these women are only being pumped up with pregnancy hormones and given babies they obtained from a baby factory at the time of delivery,' he said.
