Why Chelsea Doesn’t Have a Shirt Sponsor

After their three-year deal with telecommunications company, Three ended at the end of last season, Chelsea were left without a primary shirt sponsor.

The football club’s hierarchy looked to get a more lucrative deal than the £40 million a year deal with Three.

The Blues’ significant attempts to get a new sponsor fell through for different reasons.

The Premier League blocked their proposal to seal a deal with the streaming service, Paramount+.

The league believed Chelsea actively wearing one of NBC’s competitors would cause problems since the American company is the official Premier League rights holder in the USA.

There were talks to get gambling company, Stake on the front of their shirt but that came under significant fire from supporters who pointed out the irony of breaking the club's Charity Foundation's work on fighting against gambling addiction.

The Blues also rejected an offer from Bayern Munich’s stadium sponsor, Allianz.

Chelsea’s current attempt at getting a sponsor has seen them in talks with Infinite Athlete, although a potential deal is currently held up by due diligence checks by the Premier League.

At this moment it isn’t certain when the club will be told if the sponsor is allowed or not.
