Hafsat Bakari has been confirmed as the Director of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).
The Senate made this confirmation on Tuesday after President Bola Tinubu approved her nomination to serve as the Director/CEO of the financial body.
Before approval by the Senate, Senator Udende Memga’s report on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes was extensively considered.
Hafsat Bakari, before Tuesday’s confirmation by the Senate, served in the capacity of Deputy Director at the NFIU, Head of the General Services Unit; Head of the Strategy and Reorientation Unit, and Head of the Board Secretariat of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, she is also a lawyer and financial intelligence expert with years of experience in anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and counter-proliferation financing.
