The Anambra State Police Command has recovered the body of the lawmaker representing Aguata Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye.
The lawmaker and his aide, Cyril Chiegboka were kidnapped on 15 May at Oraeri town in Aguata Local Government Area.
On Saturday, their severed heads were found on the ground at Chisco Park, in Amichi, Anambra State.
Addressing a press conference Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, condemned the act by persons whom he called savages pretending to be fighting for the people.
Echeng said the police stand with Governor Chukwua Soludo and the people of Anambra State in this moment of grief.
He also pledged that the police will work with other security agencies to ensure that the mastermind of the killing and the foot soldiers would be brought to justice.
Governor Soludo has already offered a N10 million reward for anyone with useful information on the murder of Hon. Okoye.
