The Nigerian Army has launched hotlines in all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory to enhance election security as citizens vote in the 2023 elections.
The Army says it is in line with its constitutional mandate of providing support to civil authorities and safeguarding the sanctity of democracy.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement relayed to Nigeria Info on Tuesday.
Brigadier General Nwachukwu said the lines would enable the public to monitor and report the conduct of troops during the elections slated for 25 February and 11 March.
“The effort which is part of the NA gesture to support the lead agency for the conduct of free, fair, and peaceful elections will position the institution to professionally discharge its constitutional duties,” he stated.
The statement enjoined the public to use the phone numbers in their various states and the Federal Capital Abuja to report security breaches or misconduct by soldiers.
