Man Climbs Radio Mast, Threatens to End Life Over Hardship

A protester climbed to the top of Aso Radio mast, Katampe, Abuja on Monday, threatening to jump down to his death if President Bola Tinubu fails to urgently address Nigeria’s many challenges.

Shuaibu Yusuf, who hails from Maiduguri in Borno State, lamented that he was frustrated by unbearable economic realities and demanded that the president reverse the removal of fuel subsidy and tackle insecurity.

Other demands Yusuf made are that the government opens the borders for food importation, and declares an emergency in Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Katsina, Niger, and Borno States to end banditry.

He also demanded an end to Nigeria’s out-of-school children challenge which is on the rise.

A rescue team, from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, arrived at the scene and persuaded him not to jump.

The team assured him his demands would be channeled to the appropriate authorities.

The Nigeria Police Force later took him into custody.
