Gunmen Kill Kwara Monarch

Armed kidnappers have attacked the palace of the Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The attack on Thursday night resulted in the death of Oba Peter Segun Aremu and the abduction of his wife and two others.

Confirming the incident, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, described the incident as shocking and horrific.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who also doubles as the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), strongly condemned the monarch's killing and abduction, urging security agencies to spare no effort in apprehending the culprits, rescuing the victims, and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Koro, located in Kwara, shares borders with Irele/Oke Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun and Ikole in Ekiti State.

These neighbouring communities have witnessed a recent surge in violence, with three traditional rulers attacked, resulting in the deaths of two.
