Four Confirmed Dead, Five Rescued in Latest Lagos Building Collapse

Rescue operations have been concluded at the site of the three-storey building that collapsed Saturday at Freeman Street in Lagos Island.

The Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye said the operation came to a halt when the team achieved ground zero.

Four persons died in the collapse while five others were rescued.

The building was under construction when it collapsed during rainfall.

Lagos State has become notorious for building collapses in recent times, with lives being lost.

No fewer than 10 persons were killed on Sunday, 1 May when another three-storey building collapsed at Ebute Metta, Lagos Mainland.

NEMA was joined in the latest rescue operation by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), the disaster unit of the Nigeria Police Force, federal and state fire service teams, the Nigerian Red Cross, and the Lagos State Ambulance Service.
