Dangote Crashes Diesel and Aviation Fuel Prices Further to N940, N980

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has again announced a further reduction in the prices of diesel and aviation fuelsto N940 and N980 per liter, respectively.

This is coming shortly after its widely reported price reduction to N1,000 about two weeks ago.

The new diesel price of N940 applies to customers buying at least five million liters from the refinery, and that of aviation fuel is for customers buying one million liters or more.

The Dangote Group head of communication, Anthony Chiejina, said the reductions are in line with the company’s commitment to cushioning the effect of economic hardship in Nigeria.

“I can confirm to you that Dangote Petroleum Refinery has entered a strategic partnership with MRS Oil and Gas stations to ensure that consumers get to buy fuel at affordable prices in all their stations, be it Lagos or Maiduguri,” Chiejina said in a statement on Tuesday.

“You can buy as low as 1 liter of diesel at N1,050 and aviation fuel at N980 at all major airports where MRS operates.”

The partnership with MRS will be extended to other oil marketers, Chiejina announced.

Diesel, which powers most industrial generators in Nigeria, sold for about N1,700 a liter at the end of March.

The Dangote Refinery announced a reduction in the price to N1,200 at the beginning of April before announcing further reduction about two weeks ago.

The latest reduction is the third within three weeks. On 27 March, Reuters reported that the refinery’s coming onstream could bring a decades-long petrol trade from Europe to Africa, worth $17 billion, to an end.
