The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has asked persons with disabilities (PwDs) to take advantage of the two-day window provided for their voter registration and data capturing.
INEC is partnering with the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs (LASODA) to get persons with special needs registered to vote.
They announced at a press conference held at Alausa on Friday that special equipment has been deployed for the continuous voter registration (CVR) on July 25 and 26 at special centers in the five divisions of the state.
The head of desk voter registration and ICT at the INEC office in Lagos, Muyiwa Yusuf said Lagos has 6,722,394 registered PwDs, out of which over one million are yet to pick up their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
As a result, Mr. Yusuf asked all PWDs in the state to go to the centers on July 25 and 26 for data capturing and PVC collection.
He said INEC has made provisions for all kinds of challenges and disabilities.
The General Manager at LASODA, Dare Dairo also said adequate security has been provided for the expected registrants.
