29,631 PVCs Idle in Edo State –INEC

29,631 Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) are yet to be collected by their owners in Edo State.

The information is coming from Timidi Wariowei, the Head of Voter Education and Publicity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

He told journalists Sunday that more than 52,013 people registered in the first and second phases of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) out of which about 30,979 were valid and 19,549 were invalid.

The Edo State office recently received the 30,979 valid PVCs from Abuja, out of which only 1,348 have been collected.

Mr. Wariowei criticized the low PVC collection rate and called on the owners of the yet-to-be-collected cards to collect theirs on time.

“Collection of PVCs will continue after the end of CVR. So, there is still time for collection before the elections,” he said.

He however said the turnout for registration at the ward and local government levels is impressive and commendable.
