The number of persons running for president under the All Progressives Congress (APC) has swelled by one, with the entry of Dr. Chris Ngige.
The Minister of Labour and Employment formally declared his intention Tuesday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in his hometown of Alor in Anambra State.
Dr. Ngige announced to a crowd of supporters that he was ready to seek Nigeria’s top job, having served 40 years in public service.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing him to serve as a minister.
Ngige had been a Senator and a governor of Anambra State before taking up his current position as a minister.

He is the second of President Buhari’s ministers to publicly declare interest in succeeding him.
The other is the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
