AFCON 2023: Super Eagles to Face Ivory Coast as Holders Senegal Drawn With Cameroon

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts and two-time Africa Cup of Nations champions Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau in the group stage of the 2023 Arican Cup of Nations.

The draws were held at the Parc Des Expositions, Abidjan on Thursday.

Defending champions Senegal find themselves in Group C with Cameroon, The Gambia, and Guinea. 

Group E appears to be the most competitive, featuring South Africa, Namibia, Tunisia, and Mali.

Mozambique, making their return after an absence since 2010, will compete in Group B alongside Egypt, led by Mohamed Salah, Ghana, and Cape Verde, who complete the group.

Group A: Ivory Coast (hosts), Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau
Group B: Egypt, Ghana, Cape Verde, Mozambique
Group C: Senegal (holders), Cameroon, Guinea, Gambia
Group D: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Angola
Group E: Tunisia, Mali, South Africa, Namibia
Group F: Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Tanzania

The tournament, featuring 24 teams, will run from January 13th to February 11th. The top two teams from each group, along with the best four third-placed teams, will progress to the knockout phase.
