Pilot Rescued As Bandits Shoot Down Military Aircraft

...Pilot successfully ejected from aircraft - NAF

A Nigerian Air Force(NAF) pilot has been rescued after bandits shot down an Alpha Jet aircraft on Sunday, The Nigerian Air force has confirmed.

Reports of a military aircraft crash made the rounds on Sunday but the authorities denied the stories.

However, a statement put on by the spokesman of NAF, Edward Gabkwet, confirmed that the military jet came under attack as it was returning from an air interdiction mission between the boundaries of Zamfara and Kaduna States.

The statement however confirmed that there were no fatalities as the pilot of the aircraft, Flight Lieutenant Abayomi Dairo, successfully ejected from the aircraft.

In his words,  ”Using his survival instincts, the pilot, who came under intense ground fire from the bandits, was able to evade them and sought refuge in nearby settlements awaiting sunset.”
