Is Permanent Legislative Seats For Women Undemocratic?

First Lady, Aisha Buhari was at the National Assembly on Wednesday, advocating permanent seats for women.

This action has evoked mixed reactions from different quarters.

Public Affairs analyst, Jimi Disu, speaking on Morning Crossfire said providing permanent legislative seats for women in the National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly is undemocratic.

Disu argues that it will be unfair to make such provisions in the law and women should fight for the seat the same way men do.

“Women are ready to side by side with men; politics is difficult for everybody,” he added.

On the other hand, Morning Crossfire host, Sheriff Quadry disagrees with Disu.

Quadry opines that politics on this side of the world is more difficult for women and the argument for special provisions for women can be heard.

What do you think of this?
