Public affairs analyst, Jimi Disu, says the selection of Nollywood actor Funke Akindele as PDP's deputy governorship candidate in Lagos is risky but could be a masterstroke.
On Tuesday, Akindele was announced as the running mate to the PDP's Lagos governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran aka Jandor.
Mr. Disu admits that his initial reaction was to make light of the decision, but he has since come to agree with opinions that think it is a good choice.
In the first instance, "she is educated, she is a lawyer, the fact that she is a comedian doesn't mean she doesn't have anything between her ears," he said.
The public commentator also emphasized that politics at this point is a function of numbers, and this lady has a large following among youths and the lower and middle-class voters.
Mr. Disu suggests that with the right twist, coupled with her gender, her selection could be an advantage rather than a disadvantage for her and the party.
It may just work if they (PDP) spin it right.
