The decision of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to disrupt economic activities at the Murtala Mohammed Airport on Monday in protest of the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is receiving mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Constitutional Lawyer Liborous Oshoma, while being empathetic to the plight of the students' union, is however picking at the crevices of the move.

According to the social commentator, the "strategy" employed by the student union body is unconvincing.

This assertion he made while in conversation with Joyce Onyemuwa on the Sunny Side.

He said, "The government will say it is not only government people that are accessing this route that you have shut down, there are other persons who want to go about their normal duties; we also owe it a responsibility to protect them.

"The government will hear you loud and clear if your protest is around the universities. Do you know the massive monumental effect that will resonate with the government than a one-off protest at the airport road?

"There are various ways you can make a loud statement without uttering a word", he added.

This is a view that was shared and also opposed by callers who aired their opinions.
