The semifinals of the 'I BEG TO DIFFER' debate tournament kicked off with 13-year-old Tanvita Koushik and 12-year-old Emmanuel Afolarin Busari competing for a chance at the finals of the tournament.

The duo debated the topic, "Is Nigeria Ready For Electronic Voting?"

13-year-old Tanvita Koushik, who supported the motion, argued that electronic voting will go a long way to curb election irregularities, as well as improve citizens trust in the voting process.

On his part, 12-year-old Emmanuel Afolarin Busari in opposing the motion insists that the Nigerian political class are not willing to subject themselves to a transparent form of elections.

The panel of judges, having weighed both arguments from the contestants, picked Tanvita Koushik as the winner, thus progressing to the final of the tournament.

The 'I BEG TO DIFFER' semifinals continues this Tuesday on Nigeria Info's Hard Facts with host, Sandra Ezekwesili.
