Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, says no presidential candidate in the 2023 general election can take Rivers State for granted.

Governor Wike said this during the flag-off of the eleventh flyover at Rumuokwuta junction in the state, where he also stressed that Obio-Akpor Local Government Area has a voting strength of six hundred thousand votes.

This was the discussion on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire with Enoh Ogbevire, prompting the question; how critical is Rivers State votes to the outcome of the 2023 presidential election?

Here are some of callers’ responses:

“I can’t really take it (the governor’s statement) hook, line and sinker because this is a democratic system”

“I know very well that the Akpor people will not vote according to his dictate”

“We cannot deny the fact that the governor as a sitting governor has influence and he has followers, but what the governor fails to understand is that the old order is no more in existence in Nigeria.”

“Don’t forget that the governor has associates and the governor has electorates who will also support him”
