Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect, has been recognized among the TIME 100 Most Influential People of 2023.

The 2023 list includes prominent leaders such as US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Released on Thursday, the 100 most influential were grouped into six categories: Artists, Innovators, Titans, Leaders, Icons, and Pioneers.

Tinubu was listed among leaders, alongside Biden, Albanese, and others.

The citation for Tinubu's recognition was written by Astha Rajvanshi and noted his nearly two decades of preparation leading to his presidential campaign.

The citation also highlighted the challenges Tinubu faces as he assumes the presidency, including corruption, religious insurgencies, and a struggling economy.
