Thousands Troop to Sani Abacha Stadium for Swearing-in of Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf

The mood for millions of the Kwankwasiya faithful in Kano today is one of celebration and togetherness as they troop out to witness the swearing-in of the new Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The celebration started immediately after the handover at the African House, to the Sani Abacha Stadium where thousands gathered inside and outside the stadium to show their support for the new governor.

Our correspondent, Victor Christopher who was around the stadium observed that from Zoo Road Interchange Bridge to IBB Road, and other roads that lead to Sani Abacha Stadium was chocked with traffic jams due to the massive turnout.

As usual, the males of the Kwankwasiyya were mostly dressed in their red caps, white KAFTAN, and black shoe. While the ladies were covered in red hijab.

Also, the swearing-in celebration is being conducted amid tight security as some security operatives such as Police, Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC personnel, and Civil Defence, as well as was seen in strategic locations.

Speaking earlier while handing over the mantle of power to Governor Abba, the outgoing Secretary of the State, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said the Ganduje administration had done its best in managing the affairs of the State.

Responding, the incoming Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressed surprise over the departure from the traditional means of handing over power in the State, from 1999 to 2015 when Kwankwaso handed over to Abdullahi Ganduje.

Governor, Abba further expressed his disappointment over the insufficient handover notes left by former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Governor Abba however expressed concern about the substantial debt of over 241 billion Naira accumulated by the previous administration under Dr. Governor Ganduje.
