The Super Eagles have returned to Nigeria from Libya, putting an end to their hours of ordeal in the North African country.

Players and officials were stranded for over 13 hours at a Libyan airport after arriving the country to honour a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The players subsequently went on social media to express their frustration about the situation which led  public condemnation.

After much drama, the Libyan authorities gave the Nigerian team the all clear to depart the country

Confirming their arrival, the team’s captain William Troost-Ekong posted on his X handle “BACK HOME SAFE & SOUND. Proud of this team, NAIJA SPIRIT can’t be broken.
Throw at us what you want, it’s in our blood to overcome.”
