Security agents have taken over the Rivers State House of Assembly complex following a fire outbreak at the chamber around 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The fire started when suspected arsonists reportedly threw an explosive at the complex. The Federal Fire Service later put it out.
The incident followed rumors of an impending impeachment procedure against the state governor, Siminalaye Fubara.
It is unclear if the fire is linked to the rumored power tussle between the governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
