Police Interrogate Officers Accused of Kidnapping, Extortion

The police are investigating accusations of kidnapping, name-dropping, extortion, and illicit enrichment leveled against some of its officers in the Rivers State Police Command.

The probe was ordered by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun after a petition was filed by a man identified as Atubi Johnson.

It will be carried out by the IGP Monitoring Unit.

The police view the allegations with “utmost seriousness” and are fully committed to conducting a comprehensive and transparent investigation, according to a statement released Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

He said the complainant would be contacted to provide the relevant information to enable the police to carry out a fair and impartial investigation.
