Petrol Scarcity: Your One Litre May be 25cl - Marketer Warns

If you are buying petrol at the official pump price of N165 per litre, you may have to be extra careful about what is being sold to you.

This is because a petrol marketer has drawn attention to the fact that filling stations selling at the official price, despite not being major marketers, are selling less fuel than the customers paid for.

“Where you are buying it at the normal price (#165), you should expect that your one litre is 25 cl,” Samuel, a petrol marketer, told Wemimo Adewuni on Morning Crossfire.

According to him, these marketers are doing this to cover up the deficit of having to pay more to get petroleum products from depots because of fuel scarcity.

“Depot price is about 180 - 185 per litre, so there is no way you can buy that kind of product and say you want to sell it for less than 200 naira.”

Another caller, Nathaniel, who said he owns five filling stations, also lamented how difficult it is to get petrol at the official pump price and how impossible it is to sell at the official price.
