One Dead, Three Missing in Seplat Oil Rig Collapse

An oil exploration company, Seplat Energy Plc has confirmed the death of one person following the collapse of its oil rig, "Majestic," near Ovhor in Delta State.

The news was disclosed on Tuesday through an official statement posted on the company's social media platforms.

The oil company, which operates as part of the SEPLAT/NNPCL joint venture, expressed its deep regret over the incident.

The rig, contracted by Seplat, was in transit to its planned drilling location when it capsized.

Ninety-six crew members were on board the "Majestic" at the time of the incident, according to the statement from Seplat.

Ninety-two have been accounted for and are safe. One crew member was killed and three others are missing.

Seplat Energy expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased crew member and the families of those missing.

It confirmed that its emergency response and rescue efforts are in full swing, in collaboration with the rig owner and the authorities.
