The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has increased the pump price of petrol in Abuja to N1,030 per liter.

The current price increase marks the second time the petrol price has been raised in the last month.

In September, the company increased the pump price from N615 to more than N950 in Abuja.

Transportation prices are poised to surge in the Federal Capital Territory following the increase in the price of petrol by some NNPC stations.

In Lagos, most NNPC filling stations adjusted their prices to N998 per liter.

The increase is coming as the state oil company announced it would no longer serve as the off-taker for petrol from the Dangote Refinery.

Until now, only the NNPC Limited could buy petrol from the refinery. It was reselling the product to other fuel distributors at what was believed to be a discount.
