The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has issued a warning alert to six northern states to brace for severe thunderstorms with gusty winds and copious amounts of rain in the upcoming days.
The warning was contained in a statement by the government agency on Monday.
The weather forecasting agency has identified northern states including Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Northern Kaduna, and Zamfara as potentially affected.
NiMET said the heavy rainfall may result in flooding.
Residents in these areas were advised to take necessary precautions and prepare for potentially challenging weather conditions.
Precipitation-prone locations were also cautioned against by the residents.
In addition, Public and airline operators were advised to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet to plan their operations effectively.
