Nigerian soldiers have liberated abductees held captive since February 3, 2024.

Combat Team 3, deployed in Maraban Maigora, Katsina State, on Monday, said its men rescued 10 women and six minors during a standard patrol in the Rimi community area.

The individuals rescued were part of the group of 54 women kidnapped along the Gamji-Dandume road in early February 2024, it added.

After their rescue, the women and children were transferred to the custody of the Sabuwa LGA chairman, who then facilitated their reunion with their families.

Confirming the event, Governor Dikko Radda, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, praised the soldiers for their courage and swift response.

"The liberation of these women and children showcases the bravery and devotion of our security personnel," he said.

"We pledge to continue furnishing them with the necessary resources and backing to safeguard the residents of our state," the statement added.
