The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the country's regular national grid breakdowns, which impair electricity delivery.

According to a statement released by NERC on Sunday, the public hearing will take place in Abuja on Thursday, October 24, and will center on important matters concerning the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

The commission voiced alarm about the increasing frequency of disturbances on the national grid, which has led to significant power outages and hindered recent efforts to reduce infrastructure deficits and improve grid stability.

“In this regard, the Commission hereby invites NESI stakeholders, civil society organisations, and the general public to a hearing which is scheduled as follows: Date: Thursday, 24th October, 2024.

“Venue: Commission’s Hearing Room, Fourth Floor, Plot 1387, Cadastral Zone A00, Central Business District, Abuja. Time: 10:00 am prompt,” NERC said.
