The Nigerian national energy grid crashed for the seventh time on Tuesday, causing a nationwide blackout.

Electricity distribution firms (DisCos) announced the shutdown in separate statements, just 24 hours after the grid broke down for the sixth time in 2024.

Ikeja Electricity announced that the national grid fell at about 9:17 a.m., disrupting power supplies in its franchise.

“Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/24 @ 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network,” the firm said.

The DisCo said it was working with important stakeholders to restore the electricity supply.

Additionally, Eko DisCo assured customers that it will work with its partners to resolve the problem.

“We will keep you updated as soon as power supply is restored,” the DisCo said.
