The Indigenous People of Biafra have rejected plans to name the Second Niger Bridge after President Muhammadu Buhari
A statement by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, says the President ”came to power and completely sidelined its people,” hence should not be associated with the bridge.
On Morning Crossfire, Public Affairs analyst, Jimi Disu, unusually agreed with IPOB’s stance.
“Why would you want to name a bridge built in the East after Buhari? Is it because it was built during his tenure? Was it built with his money?,“he argued.
But Sheriff Quadry questioned if naming the bridge after the President was really such a bad idea after all precedents exist.
