The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq says Jigawa State is the most flood-devastated state in Nigeria.
She stated this on Thursday at the weekly ministerial briefing organized by the Presidential Media Team at the State House, Abuja.
The minister spoke while responding to a question on the accusation by the elder statesman, Edwin Clark, that the federal government has abandoned Bayelsa State in the midst of its worst flood disaster.
She said Bayelsa was not among the ten worst affected states.
She also explained that statistics were deployed in arriving at the data the federal government has.
They include the number of deaths, injuries, displaced persons, completely and partially damaged farmlands, and damaged houses and structures per state.
