EXCLUSIVE: Be Patient, Super Eagles Striker Pleads

Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, has voiced out his frustration over his inability to hit the ground running so far in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Umar had been in a blistering form for his Spanish Segunda division side, Almeria but hasn't quite attain that level in the colours of the national team despite featuring in two games already.

The lanky striker came on as a substitute for Taiwo Awoniyi in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over the Pharaohs of Egypt in the team’s opener at the 2021 AFCON.

He also replaced the Union Berlin attacker in the Super Eagles’s 3-1 win over Sudan.

However, he has failed to make meaningful impact on the pitch.

But Umar believes he will come good soon.

"I don't find anything difficult,” told Nigeria Info correspondent out in Garoua, Cameroon.

“For me everything is okay; it’s just a matter of time.  This is my first time being here. I'm always trying to give my best.

"All I'll say is just (for everyone) to be patient with us. Everyone you see is trying (to do their best).

We're living our dream, so don't take our dream away from us." Umar pleaded.

The Super Eagles face Guinea Bissau in Wednesday’s final group game at 8pm, Nigerian time. @Tobi
