Billionaire automaker, Elon Musk is planning big changes to social media platform Twitter, just days after becoming its largest shareholder.

On Tuesday he put out a poll asking people if they wanted an edit button.

More than 2.3 million people had voted, eight hours after the poll was put up, with 73.6 percent opting for an edit button and 26.4 percent opposing it.

Musk paid more than $2bn late last week for a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter.

The news came days after the 50-year-old questioned the company’s commitment to free speech.

Twitter’s share prices soared as soon as it was made public.

Musk who is worth $273bn has more than 80 million followers on Twitter and more than four times the 2.25 percent holding of the platform’s founder, Jack Dorsey.
