The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Idris Nasiru, as the winner of the Kebbi State governorship election.
Nasiru scored 409,225 votes against his closest challenger, Bande Aminu of the Peoples Democratic Party’s360,940 votes.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Yusuf Sa’idu of the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto said 800,560 votes were cast out of which 781,478 were valid and 19,082 were rejected.
Saturday’s election took place after INEC declared the 18 March poll inconclusive due to “massive vote cancellation and overvoting” in 20 of the 21 local government areas in the state.
