A joint enforcement team of the FCT Administration raided Abuja city center and the Kubwa expressway on Tuesday, seizing motorcycles involved in traffic infractions.
The team of the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), police, military, and paramilitary agencies went after commercial motorcyclists (okada riders) in Garki Area 1 & 3, Guzape, Durumi 1, 2 & 3, Mpape Junction, Asokoro, and Kubwa.
One hundred and twenty motorcycles were seized in the operation.
The DRTS’ operations chief, Deborah Osho, described the operation as a normal raid and a continuous process.
"We were able to clean the city center and along the expressway of the menace of okada and their activities.
“They come into the city center, cause a lot of traffic and other vices that violate traffic rules.”
She vowed that the FCT enforcement team would continue the seizures and arrests of traffic defaulters as long as the okada riders continue traffic violations.
