The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Bola Tinubu for his victory in the presidential primary of the All progressives Congress (APC).
In a tweet sent from his official handle less than an hour after Tinubu was declared the APC’s presidential candidate, Atiku wrote, “Congratulations on your emergence as your party’s presidential candidate. It has been a hard-fought contest, but that you prevailed confirms your tenacity.”
Both men will face each other in 2023 when Nigerians go to the polls to elect President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

The two would be going into the race as the top contenders for the country’s top job.
They could however face competition from the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi whose emergence has led to a surge in the number of young people who are willing to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for the first time, and volunteer for a presidential candidate’s campaign.
Atiku had earlier won the PDP’s presidential primary at the party’s Special National Convention on 28 May.
