Former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, has officially thrown his support behind Governor Siminalayi Fubara, endorsing him as the political leader of the state.
In a public statement, Odili commended Governor Fubara for his dedication to safeguarding the interests of the people of Rivers State. He emphasized Fubara's legitimacy in leadership, noting that he had secured victory both at the ballot box and through legal avenues.
Speaking at the inauguration of a Primary Healthcare Centre sponsored by his PAMO Foundation in Ndoni, Odili underscored the significance of Rivers State's influence on the national stage, stating, "If Rivers State sneezes, the entire Nigeria would catch cold." He urged Governor Fubara to remain mindful of this responsibility in all his decisions.
Highlighting Fubara's achievements within his first year in office, Odili encouraged the governor to maintain his alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his policies.
He emphasized the importance of attracting federal government attention and support to the state through such alignment.
Expressing gratitude for Fubara's commitment to defending the interests of all Rivers people, Odili asserted, "Politics is over; it is now time for governance." He commended the governor's proactive approach to governance and encouraged him to continue in this vein.
Odili conveyed the sentiments of the people of Rivers State, affirming their support for Governor Fubara's leadership. He urged Fubara to remain steadfast and focused, assuring him of the people's unwavering support.
Recall that Governor Fubara and the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike have been at loggerheads over the political leadership of the oil-rich state.
A crisis that culminated in the defection of PDP state assembly members to the ruling APC and the attempted impeachment of the governor.
