Nigerians wanting to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) must now pay a non-refundable sum of over N600,000 for a Document Verification Number (separate from application fees) and show proof of a 6-month bank statement with a minimum balance of N16,188,600.00 ($10,000).
These are two of the (updated) five conditions set by the Middle Eastern country for visa application for Nigerians after lifting restrictions earlier placed.
In addition to the requirements mentioned above, round-trip flight tickets, proof of hotel booking confirmed and paid and a visa fee payment proof (paid with a credit card at the UAE Visa entre in Abuja) are necessary.
Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris had on Monday announced that an agreement had been reached with the UAE on the resumption of travel for Nigerian passport holders effective July 15th, 2024.
He says this is after "successful talks and extensive, mutually beneficial negotiations between both nations."
Recall that over 24 months ago, the UAE announced the suspension of visa applications to Nigerians in the wake of a long diplomatic row with the country.
Also, the national carrier for the Arab nation, Emirates Airlines back in May announced the resumption of flights to Nigeria from October 1, 2024.
